A helping hand

A guide for grown-ups

Give them space to think—and a little help when they ask.

Pick a comfortable starting point

  • Little Steps: Addition and subtraction within 20.
  • Growing Strong: Two-digit numbers within 100. No carrying or borrowing.
  • Ready to Bloom: Numbers within 100, including carrying and borrowing.

The levels describe number skills, not an age requirement or a promise of curriculum mastery. Start with Little Steps if you are unsure.

A short session, at their pace

Each normal session has 18 questions: nine additions and nine subtractions, in three groups of six. There is no timer. After each group, choose Continue when ready.

Help without taking over

Ask, “What could you split into tens and ones?” or “How could you get to the next ten?” Let the child use the keypad or a physical keyboard. Help me offers a strategy; Show me reveals the answer and calculation steps.

A wrong answer gets one retry. After a second mistake, the steps appear so the child can keep going. Reading the steps together can be as useful as trying another question.

Read the results kindly

First try means correct before a mistake or help. With practice means correct after a retry or help, without revealing the answer. Once the full answer is shown, the question counts as Answer shown instead.

Practice tricky ones starts a separate round using questions that needed help or a retry. It never changes the original score. Play again creates a fresh set at the same level.

No account, no saved progress

Sessions live in browser memory. Refreshing or leaving the page resets them. The app asks before its own exit controls discard unfinished practice.
